Work backwards from the date

Exhibition deadlines do not move. Tell us the date first and we will tell you what is possible; everything else — artwork, quantity, finish — can be decided after that. The jobs that go wrong are the ones where the stand plan arrives the week of the show.

What a stand usually needs

• A backdrop — a pop-up or media wall, so a table in the middle of a hall has an edge and a photo point
• Roll-up banners beside the stand rather than behind it on a corner unit
• Lanyards and badges, colour-coded so crew, speakers and delegates are distinguishable at a glance
• Something to hand out — tote bags and notebooks are kept; stress balls and keychains get picked up off the table
• Signage and wayfinding, including cut lettering and shaped panels, which we produce on our own laser equipment

Sizing, which is where most mistakes happen

Text that reads well on a screen disappears at three metres. Send us the stand plan and the hall layout and we will tell you what actually fits and what will be legible from the aisle — that costs nothing and saves a reprint.
