The press is where every method ends

Heat transfer paper, flex film, sublimation and DTF all finish on a press, and all of them fail the same way if the press is wrong: uneven pressure or drifting temperature lifts edges, shifts colour and washes out — and it looks like the paper is at fault. A press that holds true temperature and even pressure across the whole platen is what makes the rest of the process repeatable.

Choosing one

• Platen size — buying too small is the most common mistake we are called to correct. Size it to the largest print you expect, not the average one.
• Flat, or shaped — mugs, tumblers, caps and plates each need their own platen. A flat press cannot hold even pressure around a mug.
• Clamshell or swing-away — swing-away gives clear access for positioning and thicker items; clamshell takes less bench space.
• Duty — a press in a uniform factory is a different machine from one in a gift shop.
